Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The treatment of aortic aneurysms is currently undergoing a widespread and fast evolution. The need to meet the ever-increasing demand for care in an increasingly frail and old population has motivated extensive changes in surgical strategies. The democratization and the demystification of endovascular and hybrid surgical techniques has deepened the understanding of these pathologies and has made it possible to offer treatment to patients for whom surgery was previously unfeasible.

The treatment of aortic arch aneurysms or thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms is the perfect example. In these complex domains, conventional surgery, which is too invasive, now appears to be giving way to various endovascular strategies. This major evolution, largely due to the development of medical devices, computer-based measuring tools, and artificial intelligence, currently offers an innovative range of therapeutic possibilities, such as BEVAR, FEVAR, PMED, laser in situ, chimneys, and more. The results of all these techniques are encouraging, albeit imperfect, and will find their place within the unique experience of each surgical center. Furthermore, the long-term management of patients is also a significant issue. Endovascular treatment of aneurysms raises questions, especially regarding the durability and management of associated endoleaks.

With this Special Issue, we welcome authors to submit papers on recent advances in surgical treatment and repair, with a special focus on the aortic arch and thoracoabdominal treatment.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
