Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that significantly impacts the quality of life of patients. If not well controlled, patients may experience complications such as fistulas and abscesses and may undergo hospitalizations and surgery. The management of patients with Crohn’s disease has changed considerably in the last few decades thanks to our better understanding of the associated etiopathogenetic mechanisms, an increased availability of therapeutic options, the tight monitoring of the disease including non-invasive tests such as fecal calprotectin and intestinal ultrasound, and early treatment. However, a significant proportion of patients fail to respond to current therapies and their management is challenging for clinicians. For this reason, updated knowledge is necessary to ensure optimal care for our patients. This Special Issue aims to summarize the most recent evidence on the management of patients with Crohn's disease in order to provide practical recommendations for daily clinical practice.
