Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly
interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the
most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.
As the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Clinical Medicine, I am pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 Travel Award sponsored by our journal.
Dr. Elisa Ramos-Sevillano, a postdoctoral research scientist at the Centre for Inflammation and Tissue Repair, University College of London, London, UK, carries out research to develop a live vaccine against Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Daniel Migliozzi, a Ph.D. student at the Laboratory of Microsystems, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland, carries out research to develop microfluidic and optical technologies for cancer diagnostics and drug screening.
From the applications received, it is obvious that there was a large pool of highly qualified candidates that deserve this award. Given the fact that only two winners were available, it was not a simple task to select the winners this year. In the election process, an experienced committee closely examined the applicants’ submitted documents, and ranked them based on strong research productivity and performance merit. From the outcome of this exercise, the winners obtained relatively higher scores.
