Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to this Special Issue, titled "Food Chemistry and Contaminants: Bridging the Gap between Sustainability, Environmental, and Public Health." This collection of articles highlights the crucial role of food chemistry and contaminants in shaping the current and future landscapes of environmental ecology, environmental and public health, addressing exposure assessments of chemical contaminants in foods, their health implications, and their correlation with the sustainability of food systems.

As the global population continues to grow, there is an increasing need to ensure a safe, sustainable, and nutritious food supply for all. Food chemistry plays a crucial role in understanding the complex interactions between chemical components in food and their potential impacts on human health and the environment. In this Special Issue, we will explore innovative approaches, methodologies, and analytical techniques in food chemistry to address the pressing issue of food contaminants and their consequences on environmental ecology, environmental health, and public health.

The articles included in this Special Issue will cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • The latest advancements in food contaminant detection and analysis;
  • The impact of food contaminants on environmental ecosystems and human health;
  • Novel techniques in food chemistry for assessing and mitigating contamination risks;
  • Green analytical chemistry and its applications in food safety and sustainability;
  • Multivariate statistical techniques for data analysis in food chemistry and contaminant research.

This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current state of knowledge and emerging trends in food chemistry and contaminant analysis through a combination of original research articles, reviews, case studies, and conference papers. By bringing together the latest research, we hope to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and inspire innovative solutions that will advance the fields of environmental ecology, environmental health, and public health, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more sustainable future for all.

We cordially invite researchers, experts, and professionals working in these fields to submit their valuable contributions to this Special Issue and join us in exploring the critical intersections between food chemistry, contaminants, and their impacts on our health and the environment.

We are looking forward to receiving your submission and sharing the latest findings and insights with our readers

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2500 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
