Dear Colleagues,
In recent decades, the incidence of chronic degenerative diseases has increased exponentially worldwide, generating a public health problem that is becoming less and less sustainable for governments, the health sector, and the population. Although multidisciplinary efforts are currently being made, it is necessary to address this public health problem from different science and technology perspectives, thus generating solutions focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of chronic diseases in the adult population, elucidating the characteristics and uniqueness of different populations. From the medical, nutritional, genetic, engineering, and mathematical point of view, alternatives based on the use of technology that promote improvements in the quality of life of people and/or prioritize economic investments focused on the control of these diseases. The application of technology should be fundamental as a basis for the generation of new public health policies in the care of these diseases.
