Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

COVID-19, the public health measures to control the pandemic, the toll of the death of a family member or friend from the virus, as well as its impacts on economic, physical, and social environments have increased the proportion of people reporting isolation, fear, anger, sadness, irritability, insomnia, and alcohol or drug misuse [1,2]. The ongoing mental and physical health impacts of COVID-19 can be even greater for those who contracted COVID-19. People with serious mental health conditions such as major depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder experienced higher levels of pandemic-related stress [3,4]. While some of the mental and physical impacts have resolved as people have learned to cope with the uncertainties associated with the ongoing threats of COVID-19 strain variations, many continue to experience loneliness, anxiety, and depression.

In this Special Issue on behavioral health systems, we are soliciting papers that advance our knowledge and assist us in evolving our current understanding of behavioral health issues affecting health providers, patients, family caregivers, and citizens. We welcome recent research aimed at effective mental health treatments, increasing access to quality mental health programs, and mitigating behavioral health issues such as mental health, depression, stress, burnout, anger, anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties.
