Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Sexuality is an integral part of the human experience. However, shame, stigma, and broader societal factors often impact personal experiences and patient pathways. It is critical that all public health professionals have a foundational understanding of human sexuality, so that individuals, groups and populations are supported to achieve optimal sexual health.

This Special Issue will spotlight evidence-based initiatives that build capacity in the workforce (pre-qualification or post-qualification) regarding some aspects of human sexuality. Quantitative and qualitative research is welcome, and potential papers may include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Scientifically rigorous evaluations of educational interventions;
  • Empirical examinations of best practice in educational design;
  • Empirical and conceptual reviews on different issues, theories or approaches;
  • Barriers and enablers to implementation, sustainability, replication and/or scale-up;
  • Cross-cultural and/or cross-national studies;
  • Study protocols.

Professions may include doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, health promotion practitioners and educators, but other fields may be considered.

Guest Editor
