Dear Colleagues,
The ever-growing population of cities allied with the rapid unorganized urbanization process has brought troubling issues to the entire world. As an extenuating aspect, smart city solutions have emerged to mitigate the impacts caused in different scenarios, such as public safety, public health, traffic management, sustainable resource management, and pollution control. With new communication standards (especially over the Internet) and the development of affordable, low-power electronic devices with embedded capabilities for sensing, smart city solutions are commonly leveraged by employing Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). Thus, WSNs can be seen as tools to promote distributed data gathering and processing and the efficient exchange of assertive information from diverse urban environments. As a consequence, decisions can be made more quickly and accurately to foster well-being and make cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable, as expected by the United Nations agenda for 2030. In this context, this Special Issue will discuss this trending topic and compile solutions to classical and new emerging challenges in diverse urban applications, aiming to enhance performance, optimize resources, reduce waste, consumption, and costs, and most importantly, improve the quality of life of citizens.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Future Internet is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
