Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Quantum information and quantum optics are two leading fields at the forefront of what came to be known as quantum technology. This term refers to a broad range of technological developments that harness the principles of quantum mechanics for applications such as computing, transport, precision measurements, and communication. In fact, there is a close connection between quantum technology and the concept of quantumness, i.e., the distinguishing features of quantum systems that set them apart from their classical counterparts. The same can be said about the concept of entropy and the tools of information theory. In quantum optics, for instance, entropy provides insights into the statistical properties, correlations, and thermal behavior of photons. In quantum information, the analysis of the capacity, fidelity, and security of quantum communication channels relies heavily on entropy and information theory. In this Special Issue, we explore the modern trends in quantum optics and quantum information which highlight the central role of entropy, information theory, and quantumness in advancing quantum technologies. We welcome high-quality contributions spanning a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

* Entropy and information theory applied to quantum optics and quantum information.

* Quantum correlations, nonlocality, and quantumness.

* States and reservoir engineering in quantum systems.

* Quantum transport and thermodynamics in controlled quantum systems.

* Quantum metrology, sensing, and precision measurements with quantum resources.

* Machine learning applied to quantum systems.

We encourage researchers from diverse backgrounds and perspectives to contribute their original research articles to this Special Issue. This offers a unique opportunity for the sharing of the latest findings and innovative ideas within the thriving community involved with quantum technologies.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Entropy is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
