Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the Special Issue Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X). The Special Issue will focus on the architecture, design and optimization of high-performance communicating and interaction systems and their application to advanced research frontiers. The purpose of the V2X Special Issue is to provide a premier forum for researchers and academics to publish influential articles, reviews, measurement data and to discuss key topics in the field, where efficient V2X communication for smart vehicles is a crucial factor in the future for high-performance, safety and reliable transport.

We invite submissions of papers in the form of either original research or surveys/overviews and expect the publications to be widely read and highly influential. We look forward to receiving your publications. Submissions should be of high quality, suitable for an international journal, and should not have been submitted or published elsewhere.

Topics of the Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Mobile and wireless communication/networking for V2X;
  • Security, privacy, and reliability;
  • Testing and validation for road safety;
  • OpenGateway, Network Exposure Function, Camara and API;
  • Machine learning;
  • Vehicle to everything (V2X), vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-home (V2H);
  • Intelligence applications and infrastructure for vehicles and traffic;
  • Self-driving cars/autonomous driving/vehicles;
  • Numerical modeling of V2X communication;
  • Edge computing/network in smart cities and infrastructure;
  • Big data governance and analytics;
  • 5G and beyond NR technologies with or without PC5;
  • Recent V2X applications and services.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

The localization of autonomous vehicles using light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensors relies on high-definition (HD) maps, which are essential for accurate positioning. However, the large storage capacity required for HD maps poses challenges for real-time performance. To address this issue, we propose a vehicle to infrastructure (V2I)-based LiDAR localization method. In this approach, real-time HD maps are transmitted to vehicles in the vicinity of the infrastructure, enabling localization without the need for map data. We conducted tests to determine the optimal size of the HD maps and the distance between vehicles and the infrastructure, considering the impact on transmission speed. Additionally, we compared the matching performance between the complete HD map and sub maps received from the infrastructure, to evaluate the effectiveness of our method in a qualitative manner.
