Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Chronic pain is a significant and persistent health condition, affecting as many as 35% of youths around the world (King et al., 2011). It is widely known that pediatric chronic pain leads to functional impairment in multiple domains, including decreased school attendance, social withdrawal, and decreased participation in extracurricular activities (Huguet & Miro, 2008; Perquin et al., 2000). However, there remains ongoing gaps within the literature surrounding healthcare equity, streamlining referral processes, and the use of integrative therapies. This Special Issue invites manuscripts focused on all aspects of pain, including procedural, acute, and chronic pain, various modes of integrative therapies, including, but not limited to, biofeedback, virtual reality, yoga, aromatherapy, massage, herbal supplements, and acupuncture, and reviews and original research surrounding building equity in pediatric pain management.
