Special Issue Information

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are one of the key areas of research for both industry and academia. The world’s largest automobile companies are continuously striving to introduce intelligence in automobiles through the convergence of cutting-edge sensing, communication, and control technologies. The main objective of all these studies and development efforts is to realize a safe, economical, environmentally friendly, and reliable transportation system.

The rapid advancements in vehicular networks and communication systems have brought about transformative changes in the automotive industry. The integration of wireless communication technologies, sensor networks, and intelligent transportation systems has paved the way for safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation. This Special Issue aims to present a comprehensive review of the recent advances achieved in vehicular networks and communication systems, highlighting the most recent research and innovations in this field. The topics covered include vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), intelligent transportation systems (ITS), connected vehicles, cooperative communication, security and privacy issues, and emerging technologies. This Special Issue aims to provide valuable insights into the current state of the art, challenges, and future directions of vehicular networks and communication systems.

You are welcome to submit your original research related to the theme of advances in vehicular networks and communication systems in sensor-enabled communication network environments, vehicular networks, communication systems, vehicular ad hoc networks, intelligent transportation systems, connected vehicles, cooperative communication, security, privacy, and emerging technologies.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
