Upcoming MDPI Conferences (2)
Barcelona, Spain
Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to announce that “Symmetry 2023—The 4th International Conference on Symmetry” will be back in person in 2023. The event is supported by MDPI’s open access journal Symmetry and will be held on 21–23 June 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.
As expressed by Hermann Weyl, who was responsible for important progress in the field of symmetry in math and physics: “Symmetry is a fundamental phenomenon in nature and all sciences”. Additionally, paraphrasing Frank Wilczek, “powerful symmetry principles have guided physicists in their quest for nature's fundamental laws”. Although one should add, at the same time, that many of the most interesting situations happen to occur when some fundamental symmetry principle is broken. It thus seems as if nature abhors perfect symmetry.
It is this interplay between symmetry and its breakdown, in the many different domains and situations where they appear, which we want to address in the 4th Symmetry Conference in Barcelona. Specifically, we will foster interaction between scholars working in different fields of science.
We welcome scholars, engineers, students, and non-academic colleagues to join Symmetry 2023, and we kindly ask you to save the date. We aim to make this event a forum for discussion, knowledge exchange, and fruitful interactions among stakeholders working in various symmetry-related fields: Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Engineering Science. Both oral and poster contributions are welcome.
We are pleased to announce the availability of awards for postdocs, PhD students, and researchers conducting research in the field of symmetry and who plan to attend Symmetry 2023.
Best Oral Presentation (EUR 500)
Selected by the Scientific Committee after evaluation of all selected talks presented during the conference.
Best Poster (EUR 300)
Selected by the Scientific Committee after evaluation of all posters presented during the conference.
Both awards are sponsored by MDPI's open access journal Symmetry.
We are very enthusiastic about this 4th Symmetry Conference and are relying on you to make it a successful event.
We look forward to meeting you in Barcelona!

Biophotonics has applications ranging from the detection of chemical and biological molecules and microorganisms to biomedical imaging, thus generating informative data of high complexity. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a disruptive technology with applications that now pervade every field of knowledge.
Paradigms such as machine learning, deep learning and reinforcement learning are able not only to find hidden patterns in complex data, but also to inspire new theoretical and experimental interpretations.
The school was established with the aim of exploring the crossroads between these two disciplines, with the goal of creating a training path for the development of AI applications in the field of biophotonics.

Dear colleagues and friends,
After the great success of the previous editions of the International Conference on Food Bioactives and Health, and especially the one held in Parma in June 2022, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 4th FBHC (FBHC2023)! The conference has already established itself as an important international forum to present the latest research results in the field of food bioactives such as (poly)phenols, glucosinolates, carotenoids, peptides, (poly)saccharides, lipids, and other beneficial food constituents, but also of food contaminants and toxins. Contributions to the development of functional foods and food supplements, nutrition policy, personalized nutrition, and bioavailability, absorption, and metabolism of food constituents and their interaction with gut microbiota are especially welcome. Researchers, practitioners and policy makers with different professional backgrounds (e.g., physiologists, nutritionists, pharmacologists, plant scientists, toxicologists) are welcome to help us to create a multidisciplinary discussion forum typical for Food Bioactives and Health conferences.
The congress will be held on September 18–21, 2023, at the Prague Congress Centre in the beautiful capital of the Czech Republic. Prague is located on the Vltava River, and it is the historical and cultural center of the Czech Republic, famous for its vibrant lifestyle and unique atmosphere, where history breathes around the corner, combined with modern architecture, music, art, and great cuisine, both traditional and contemporary. The historic center of Prague is protected by UNESCO, and Charles Bridge is ranked the 6th most attractive monument in the world.
The Prague Congress Centre is located in the center of Prague, next to a metro station and in close proximity to two hotels with 800 rooms. The main tourist attractions are within walking distance from the centre. The Congress Centre offers large and flexible congress capacities as well as a magnificent view of historic Prague.

We are pleased to announce that the 3rd edition of the Single-Molecule Sensors and NanoSystems International Conference (S3IC 2023) chaired by Professor Frank Vollmer and Professor Felix Ritort, will be held in Barcelona from 22 to 24 November 2023. You can learn more about the conference here:
https://premc.org/conferences/S3IC
Sensor systems exhibit extraordinary sensitivity for detecting physical, chemical, and biological entities at the micro/nanoscale. The detection and analysis of molecules on miniature devices that have many possible applications in health, environment, analysis, and security is particularly exciting. A new class of label-free micro and nanosensors is starting to emerge allowing us to observe dynamic processes at the single-molecule level directly, with unprecedented spatial and temporal resolution and without significantly affecting the natural and functional movements of the molecules. Micro- and nanosensors by virtue of their small interaction length probe molecules over a dynamic range are often inaccessible using other techniques. Their small size enables an exceedingly high sensitivity, and the application of quantum optical measurement techniques can allow us to approach or surpass classical limits of detection. Advances in optical and electrical measurement methodology, laser interferometry, quantum optics, micro/nanofluidics, control of molecules and reactions at the nanoscale, DNA origami/synthetic molecular machines, and in vivo and wearable sensing materials all contribute to the rapid progress of the field of Single-Molecule Sensors and nanoSystems. It is this convergence of previously often disparate fields that is accelerating the advancements in micro and nano-sensing.
This conference will bring together researchers in the rapidly advancing field of Single-Molecule Sensors and nanoSystems. The conference focusses on the most recent advances in micro and nano-sensing techniques that have either demonstrated single-molecule detection or that claim single-molecule detection capability on sensor chips in the longer term.

- Single-Molecule Spectroscopy, Imaging, and Forces.
- Micro/Nanofluidics/Chemical control at the Nanoscale.
- Molecular Machines, Synthetic Biology, and DNA Origami.
- Single-molecule Sensors and Sequencers.
- Molecular Electronics.
- From Quantum Sensing to Quantum Biology.
- Nanothermodynamics in experiments and theory.
- Computational approaches.
