Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to introduce and invite you to submit original manuscripts for our Special Issue on “Artificial Intelligence Systems in Nanoscience and Nanotechnologies”. This Special Issue aims to explore the intersection of two rapidly advancing fields, artificial intelligence (AI) and nanoscience/nanotechnology.

In recent years, the world has witnessed remarkable advancements in both AI and nanoscience. AI techniques such as machine learning, deep learning, and data analytics have revolutionized numerous industries by enabling intelligent decision making and pattern recognition. Simultaneously, nanotechnology has empowered researchers to manipulate matter at the atomic and molecular levels, leading to groundbreaking discoveries and innovations in various fields.

This Special Issue will provide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers and experts in AI and nanotechnology to share their latest findings, methodologies, and applications. We encourage submissions that cover topics related to AI-enabled nanoscale materials, AI-driven nanofabrication techniques, AI-assisted nanomanufacturing processes, AI-based characterization methods, and the AI-guided design of nanodevices and systems, among others.

Potential topics of interest for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to:

  • Machine learning models for predicting material properties at the nanoscale;
  • AI-inspired algorithms for nanoscale fabrication and manufacturing;
  • Intelligent systems for nanodevice characterization and testing;
  • AI-based design and optimization of nanomaterials and nanostructures;
  • Applications of AI in nano-electronics, photonics, medicine, energy, and environmental sciences;
  • Integration of AI and big data analytics in nanoscience research;
  • AI-enhanced nanoscience for drug delivery in disease treatments;
  • Ontologies and knowledge engineering in nanoscience and nanotechnologies.
We encourage original research articles and review papers in all areas related to the theme of this Special Issue. We hope that this Special Issue will provide a platform for fruitful collaboration and foster new ideas at the exciting intersection of artificial intelligence and nanoscience. We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
