Dear Colleagues,
Biomass resources are mainly all kinds of agricultural waste, forestry waste, domestic waste, etc. At present, the main ways of biomass utilization globally include power generation, molding fuel, and gas production. With the rapid development of other new energy sources, the existing application channels of biomass are restricted, and the application prospects of using biomass resources as raw materials to produce liquid fuels and chemicals are becoming increasingly clear, but there are still challenges in the field: (i) life-cycle analysis of biomass-derived products, (ii) design of multifunctional catalysts for the efficient conversion of biomass into products, (iii) biomass conversion into valuable products, (iv) process design, and (v) computational approaches.
This Special Issue will be dedicated to these new perspectives in the development and application of biomass energy and chemicals. We welcome your feedback and look forward to your manuscript submissions in these areas.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
