Dear Colleagues,
As we approach the 65th anniversary of the invention of the laser, the breadth of applications for laser technology in manufacturing continues to greatly expand. Lasers offer unprecedented precision, efficiency and versatility and have become indispensable tools for research and industry to develop unique material properties and processing technologies.
This Special Issue discusses the latest advances and applications in the field across a broad range of techniques such as cutting, welding, drilling, nano/micromachining, surface structuring and, more recently, laser-based additive manufacturing, among many others.
From novel laser material processing techniques to advancements in laser system design and control, the contributions within this issue aim to illuminate the forefront of the latest research and innovations.
