Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) combines the IoT (Internet of Things) and artificial intelligence. It is a convergence technology in which artificial intelligence analyzes data collected through the Internet of Things. The AIoT combines the technological elements of the IoT and AI in a complementary form. The IoT is implemented with sensing technology to collect environmental or motion information and wired and wireless network technology to transmit the collected data. AI analyzes big data collected in the IoT environment and transmitted to the cloud or server through machine learning or artificial intelligence. AI applied to the IoT has also evolved from a simple M2M (machine-to-machine communication device) method to cloud computing, fog, and edge computing. AI intelligence created through deep learning and intelligent sensing devices enables IoT devices to make decisions directly. In addition, the AIoT is closely related to security threats related to artificial intelligence and big data combined with the IoT. Typical security threats include forgery of learning data, induction of malfunctions, and hacking of artificial intelligence system security vulnerabilities that can occur when analyzing data collected through the IoT with artificial intelligence.

This Special Issue aims to use this opportunity to gather and review the latest research results in one place to increase understanding of how the AIoT can be applied and utilized in various fields.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
