The exploration of vehicle–road collaborative automatic driving systems focuses on developing advanced technologies that enable vehicles to communicate and cooperate with the road infrastructure. These systems aim to enhance safety, efficiency, accessibility, infrastructure optimization, environmental sustainability, and the overall driving experience. The prospect and importance of vehicle–road collaborative autonomous driving systems are significant and hold numerous benefits for the future of transportation. The ongoing research, development, and deployment of these systems showcase immense potential to revolutionize transportation and enhance our daily lives.

Overall, the exploration of vehicle–road collaborative automatic driving systems aims to create a harmonious interaction between vehicles and the road environment, leveraging technology to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability on our roads.

This Special Issue aims to collect research on vehicle–road collaborative autonomous driving systems, including but not limited to: Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) Communication; Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) Communication; Sensor Fusion and Perception; Cooperative Control and Planning; and Infrastructure Support. We welcome contributions from scholars in the relevant fields.
