Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to submit contributions to the Special Issue "Advancements in Additive Manufacturing: Exploring Novel Materials for 3D Printing". This Special Issue aims to gather and disseminate the latest discoveries and innovations in the field of materials for 3D printing, both thermoplastics and metals, with the goal of fostering an understanding and the application of these materials within the scientific and industrial communities.

Three-dimensional printing is rapidly revolutionizing various industries, enabling customized production, reduced development times, and increased geometric complexity in finished products. However, the availability of high-performance materials that meet specific application requirements remains a significant challenge.

The diversity and originality in thermoplastic and metallic materials developed for 3D printing present new opportunities and challenges for the scientific community. The introduction of advanced materials, such as thermoplastic polymers with improved thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties, or metallic alloys with superior strength and biocompatibility, expands the realm of possible applications for 3D printing. By sharing research findings, we can bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry, promoting wider adoption and integration of these innovative materials into manufacturing processes.

The purpose of this Special Issue is, therefore, to provide a platform for the presentation and discussion of cutting-edge research on materials synthesis, property characterization, formulation design, and printing parameter optimization for the use of innovative materials in 3D printing. We eagerly welcome contributions covering a wide range of topics, including the modification of existing materials, the creation of new composite materials, the evaluation of performance in printed materials, and their applicability to new sectors.

The ultimate goal of this Special Issue is to accelerate the development and adoption of new materials for 3D printing, enabling stronger research outcomes and broader practical applications. We strongly encourage researchers and industry experts to share their discoveries and contribute to promoting innovation in additive manufacturing.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
