Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Reptiles breeding plays an important role for commercial purposes and for species conservation. Captive populations can be maintained when in the wild they become fragmented or when they are critically endangered. However, reptile breeding under artificial conditions can result in a variety of reproductive problems, requiring the involvement of expert veterinarians. As reptiles are also kept as companion animals, the role of exotic veterinarians is fundamental to assess animal welfare as well to safeguard public health.

In this Special Issue, we invite contributions that investigate reproductive strategies as well reproductive problems of reptiles, with particular attention to breeding management. The scope of this Special Issue includes every reptile species. Topics may include, but are not limited to: reproductive behaviors and diseases, sex identification/determination, breeding programs, assisted fertilization, sperm collection, etc.
