Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the 2019 Agronomy Young Investigator Award is Dr. Mike Mulvaney.

Dr. Mike Mulvaney is an Assistant Professor and Cropping Systems Specialist at the University of Florida, FL, USA. His work has engaged everything from optimized land preparation methods and improved seedling vigor to greater spray system efficiency during crop protection. Mike has obtained US$29.7 million in grants; published 29 articles in high-impact peer-reviewed journals; worked and traveled in over 55 countries on six continents; and recently won the Early Career Research Award with the American Society of Agronomy. His work at CIMMYT (International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center) involved research on maize-wheat systems utilizing conservation agriculture (no-till, rotations, and soil cover) under rain-fed and irrigated conditions in various parts of Mexico. His previous work as the Assistant Program Director for the USAID SANREM CRSP involved the coordination and facilitation of crop and soils research in 13 developing countries with seven US universities. Mike’s ongoing work will focus on building a new research program from the ground up, conducting research and extension activities related to row cropping systems, water and nutrient use efficiency, conservation tillage systems, and rotations.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Mike Mulvaney for his outstanding achievements.

As the awardee, Dr. Mulvaney will receive an honorarium of 2000 Swiss Francs and a 20% discount for publishing two papers in Agronomy.

We would like to thank all the applicants in various fields of study for their participation and all the Award Committee members for their evaluation of the many excellent applications.
