Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The different components of diet and their metabolites, the lack or excess of nutrients, and the use of supplements can all interfere with gene expression and cellular functions. In addition, animal nutrition is the principal factor in maintaining the balance of rumen microbiota, which plays a crucial role in feed digestion, nutrient absorption, and immune and endocrine functions. Ruminant digestion and nutrient absorption also influence animal health, the quality of products (milk and meat), and levels of polluting emissions. The aim of this Special Issue, entitled “Ruminant Digestion and Nutrient Absorption”, is to collect studies concerning the relationship between the development of new feeding strategies able to affect rumen fermentation and nutrient absorption, with a look at the effects on product quality. Contributions on any of these topics or others related to them, including original research papers and literature reviews, are welcome in this Special Issue.
