Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript deals with an  interesting subject related to the method of obtaining active substances in neoplastic diseases.
The work, however, requires a series of corrections to be published in a  journal as Future Pharmacology.

The introduction should be improved by citing the latest world reports from the last 5-8 years.
Additionally, the molecules in Table 2 should be carefully drawn as they appear to be copied pictures.
In line 189, please add the ammonium cation correctly, and in line 264 - hydrogen peroxide.

Please correct the entry of the mathematical value in line 368.

The last sentence in the conclusions on lines 369-372 seems superfluous.

The introduction should be improved by citing the latest world reports from the last 5-8 years years. Done in line 29-85.

Additionally, the molecules in Table 2 should be carefully drawn as they appear to be copied pictures. Done. The molecules were performed in the chemdraw program in line 276-276.

In line 189, please add the ammonium cation correctly, and in line 264 -hydrogen peroxide. Done in line 196 and 203.

Please correct the entry of the mathematical value in line 368. Done.

The last sentence in the conclusions on lines 369-372 seems superfluos. Sentence deleted.

Reviewer 2 Report

This manuscript described the investigation on the effects of elicitors in inducing the production of taxoids in Taxus globosa by testing the hypothesis that the cells induce a greater accumulation of taxoids depending on the type and concentration of the elicitor treatment.

A few suggestions for the authors.

  1. Line 41, “log P: 3,5” should be “log P 3.5”. Line 91 “Na2EDTA” should be “Na2EDTA”
  2. The EtOH-1 and EtOH-2 treatments are too vague, it would be better adding the actual concentration for EtOH treatments, like EtOH-0.8mM, EtOH-2.4mM.
  3. Table 1, all conditions should have the concentrations of the elicitors indicated.
  4. Figure 2 will need more explanation with the results. What does the highest volume means and how does that correlated to the production of toxoids.
  5. Session 3.3 Biomass accumulation, only the EtOH-2 treatment and the control have their data presented. Data from other conditions will be needed and the results will need to be explained in a little bit detail.
  6. Table 2, in the subtitle, “his section may be divided by subheadings. It should provide a concise and precise description of the experimental results, their interpretation, as well as the experimental conclusions that can be drawn”?
  7. Line 369, “his section is not mandatory but can be added to the manuscript if the discussion is unusually long or complex.”?

Line 41, "log P: 3,5" should be "log P 3.5". Line 91 "Na2EDTA" should be "Na2EDTA". Done.

The EtOH-1 and EtOH-2 treatments are too vague, it would be better adding the actual concentration for EtoOH treatments, like EtOH-0.8mM, EtOH-2,4mM. The nomenclature of the treatments is appropriate for this type of research.

Table 1, all conditions should have the concentrations of the elicitors indicated. Done.

Figure 2 will need more explanation with the results. What does the highest volume means and how does that correlated to the production of taxoids. Done. The grater the volume, the greater the production of taxoids, due to the concentration of the elicitor.

Session 3.3 Biomass accumulation, only the EtOH-2 treatment and the control have their data presented. Data from other conditions will be needed and the results will need to be explained in a little bit detail. Done. The results demonstrate and corroborate the hypothesis that elicitors increased taxoid production.

Table 2, in the subtitle, "his section may be divided by subheadings. it should provide a concise and precise description of the experimental results, their interpretation, as well as the experimental conclusions that can be drwan"? Done. Sentence deleted.

Line, 369, "his section is not mandatory but can be added to the manuscript if the discussion is unusually long or complex."? Done. Sentence deleted.
