Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear author,

Your paper titled "The communication challenge in archaeological museums in Puglia: insights in the contribution of social media and ICTs to small-scale institutions" is an excellent research paper. Keep up the good work.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer, thank you very much for your encouraging comment and your appreciation of my work, which I will gratefully bear in mind for the continuation of my research.

The theme is exhaustively addressed and very well investigated. It is suggested to better focus the abstract on the theme, for example anticipating some results, and to pay attention to the uniformity of the images (e.g. figure 3 has non-English text). Furthermore, if possible, some graphics could be merged into a single image to make paragraph 5 easier to read and understand.

Overall the text is understandable and well written, even if the quality of the English can be improved to be more fluent.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer, thank you very much for your appreciation of my work and for your precious recommendations for its improvement. As you suggested, I anticipated shortly some of the study’s results in the abstract.
The figures’ content and captions were further checked and revised were necessary (Fig.3 and Fig.10).
Unfortunately, my efforts to merge some graphics into single images went to the detriment of the readability of the figures’ textual content, consequently, I had to leave them at their initial status.
As for the English language, if you could indicate to me the unclear points, I would be glad to make further efforts to improve it. Again, thank you very much for helping me to improve my work.

Reviewer 3 Report

The contribution develops a detailed analysis of the recent state of the art, during and after covid, regarding the use of social media and ICT in small institutions. Good research, interesting data collected to be disseminated in the museum network.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer, I would like to thank you very much for your positive evaluation of my research and of the data collected; I hope they will be useful also for other researchers in the field.

Reviewer 4 Report

Although the paragraph "4.1. The survey on museums: aims and design issues" gives some hints on the methodology adopted in the application reported in the article, it lacks specific methodological references. In lines 530-532 the author states: "a survey based on questionnaires to be handed out to museums' managers or directors appeared as the most complete and appropriate investigation method.". It is suggested to explain the origin of the questionnaire used in the survey, detailing whether it was formulated by the author or, if taken from literature, what the specific references are.

Author Response

Dear reviewer, thank you very much for your time and attention to my work as well as for your useful suggestions. In order to better specify the origin and motivation of the questionnaire, actually resulting from my personal formulation, I added further explanation in the 4.1 paragraph, after the mentioned sentence and lines.

As for the English language, if you could indicate to me the unclear points, I would be glad to make further efforts to improve it. Thank you very much for considering reviewing my article.
