Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper presents Recent Structural Developments and Applications of Magnetorheological Dampers. The research area of magnetorheological technology, especially in the application, is very interesting and promising for wide industrial applications. I think this review may be interesting for readers to get a basic insight into the MR damper structural configuration. My selected comments can be seen below.

 Page 1, line 23

„Magnetorheological fluid is a new type of smart material“. Magnetorheological fluid is not new. Could you delete “new”, please?

„… within miliseconds“. The response time of MR fluid is usually under 1 ms. A nice paper describing the transient response of MR fluid can be found here: 10.1007/s00397-006-0155-6 or  10.1038/s41598-022-14718-5 .

„… three basic working modes …“. As far as I know, exist four working modes. The pinch mode is missing. See papers: 10.1016/j.ymssp.2019.106308 or 10.1088/1742-6596/149/1/012050 or 10.1088/1361-665X/acb473 . Could you add some information about this mode, please?

I think one interesting concept of MR damper is missing; see the paper: „Electro-mechanical analysis of a magnetorheological damper with electrical steel laminations“

I think the double gap (dual-gap) concept is missing; see 10.1088/1361-665X/abcc09
