ABSTRACT: line 32: I think that the word “but” can be removed. Similarly, remove this word from line 305.

The superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by biogenic and chemical methods. The toxicities of iron oxide nanoparticles were evaluated by plants and aquatic organisms. This manuscript can be accepted after major revision.

  1. For XRD patterns of iron oxide nanoparticles, the authors should provide the JCPDS numbers and the lattice parameters of their samples.
  2. It is better to provide SEM or TEM images of the fabricated samples. The morphologies of the samples can be directly observed by these images. In addition, it is easier to distinguish polydispersion and monodispersion from SEM images.
  3. If possible, please calculate Fe2+ and Fe3+ ratio from XPS data.
  4. Please provide high pixel figures.
