Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I have reviewed the manuscript titled " Spatiotemporal Evolution Characteristics of Carbon Emissions from Industrial Land in Anhui Province, China". This manuscript discusses the Carbon emissions (CE) in Anhui Province which is closely related to carbon emissions from industrial land (CEIL).

I do find it suitable for the Land but the English language and style need improvement

I would like to congratulate the author for writing a meaningful manuscript with recent experiments. The MS does contribute new in terms of methodology - a set of well-known methods have been applied for evolution characteristics of Carbon emission from industrial land and these methods are important as well.

Reviewer 2 Report

Although the paper is well written, I have following observations:

1. Line number 67-69 (introduction part) - there is a need to refine the objective of the paper.

2. In methodology, there is a need clarify the emissions factors used for the calculation of GHG emissions vis-a-vis type and quantity of fuel.

3. There is a need to add limitation of the methodology by adding a separate sub-section about it.

4. Currently, Results and discussions are provided under same heading. Contents about discussion on results are sufficient. However, there is a need to add a sub-section about overall limitations found. Its crux also to be added in conclusion part.

5. In Abstract, add description about methodology used.

Reviewer 3 Report

This manuscript explored the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics and the patterns of CEIL, which provide advice to relevant government departments. The research is innovative and valid. However, there are some problems should be revised as follow:

1. In line 30, the authors only emphasized the impact of carbon emission on human security. The impact of carbon emission on nature should be supplied too, such as sea level rised.

2.In introduction, the literature review is listed simply. It is lack of summary. Furthermore, the authors' last name of references should not be shown in text.

3.In study area, the authors should illustrate the reason for choose Anhui province as an example. What is the particularity of Anhui province.

4.The specific years of the Statistical Yearbook of China's Urban Construction and the website of the China Industrial Enterprises Database should be supplied.

5.The trend line might make the inverted U-trend more clear in figure 2.

6.In 4.1.1 section, the authors analyzed the relationship between CEIL and economic development. However, the relationship between CEIL and population  was shown in figure3. Do you means the economic development equal to population? I suppose the GDP or GDP per capita is more suitable.

7.In section 4.2.2, the provincial average from 2000 to 2013 could be supplied in table 3. It is easier to understand for readers.

8.The outlook should be supplied.

9.Some hyphen is not necessary, such as line 392 fol-lowing, line 401 re-source and so on.

10.The version of ArcGIS should be supplied, such as ArcGIS 10.2.

11.Some presentation should be checked. For instance, calculated the Calculate in line 67, t gross in line 82.

12.The authors should illustrate how to divide cities to resource-based cities, industrial-based cities and tourism-based cities? What's the foundation of that? In addition, what's the different of resource-based cities and industrial-based cities? Which cities are belong to resource-based cities, industrial-based cities or tourism-based cities ?

13.A relevant reference should be cited as follow.
