Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Response to the author:

In this manuscript, the authors have provided the genome-wide identification of the NHX family in pomegranate and their expression patterns under salt stress. This manuscript is well-written, organizing all parts, it is suitable for publication in the Agronomy Journal. Besides, the authors have conceived and designed the analyses wisely, and they discussed them beautifully. This finding makes sense and it's fascinating work in the agricultural field. I have a few corrections/suggestions, should be carried out before acceptance.

  1. 346-347: Please explain how to regulate the amount of K+ by AKT1 to avoid salt damage?
  2. 90: CDD ------> Conserved Domain Database (CDD)
  3. 91: SMART -----> simple modular architecture research tool (SMART)
  4. 115: CDS --------> coding sequence (CDS)
  5. 115: delete sequences after CDS
  6. 331: ABA --------> Abscisic acid (ABA)
  7. 342: Arabidopsis -------> Arabidopsis

Dong et al. manuscript entitled “Genome-wide Identification of NHX Gene Family in Punica  granatum L. and Their Expressional Patterns under Salt Stress”  presented please find some suggestions to improve the manuscript.

Line 36: Please elaborate “HKT1” when mentioned in the first time

Line 173: “most of these PgNHX proteins might locate on the vacuoles, while PgNHX10 on the cell membranes.” But as per table 3 PgNHX3 showing in both Vacuole and cell membrane.

Figure 3B please mention what is representing the colours (yellow and blue)

Figure 4 Please complete the legend like Tertiary structure of PgNHX proteins (PgNHX1 to PgNHX10).
