Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Catalyst2372822

The paper entitled “Effects of ZSM-5 morphology and Fe promoter for dimethyl 2 ether conversion to gasoline-range hydrocarbons”, related to the abundance of acid sites and the effect on catalytic conversion, can be published after clarifying some questions.

a.- What is the effect of Fe2O3 crystal size on N-ZSM-5 on the reactivity and selectivity of the DME to gasoline reaction? Is there an optimal crystal size for Fe2O3 on the N-ZSM-5 material?

b.- Possibly in Figure 3A, the sample N-ZSM-5 has a bad deconvolution showing two types of weak force sites of different nature in the interval from 50 to 250°. Please explain.

c.- When you add Fe2O3, some type of sites evolves between 50 to 250°C in the sample N-ZSM-5, figure 3B. Please explain.

d.- This work needs a kinetic study of the reaction. Explain why it was not considered.

e.- Commonly, a catalytic study aims to improve the rate reaction and selectivity, considering the own reaction kinetics; With this information, propose a model of the reaction mechanisms and the interaction with the active sites involved.

Reviewer 2 Report

The reviewed work choc interesting, still needs a few corrections/additions. The introduction is too short, too little information was cited on the basis of the literature review on the applications of zeolite ZSM-5. It would be good to complete this information, then the recipient would have a broader view of the validity of the research topic undertaken.  It would be worthwhile to include an illustrative drawing or photo of the catalytic testing apparatus. It was mentioned that the analysis of products is carried out using a gas chromatograph. Please provide examples of chromatographic spectra, together with identification of products of the reaction mixture and detailed information on the temperature program, on the basis of which the analysis was carried out. One last comment on the formula on the basis of which the DME conversion was determined - please supplement it in the article.

The work should be reviewed again for grammar and the choice of appropriate words.
