Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The gut microbiome has an important role in human health. One area where the gut microbiome has a significant impact is in vaccination. Antibiotics or probiotics have been shown to alter the gut microbiome and may affect immunization responses. Still, it remains unclear whether vaccines can alter the gut microbiome and if the mode of vaccine delivery affects the GI microbiome. Vaccines may be able to target specific pathogens, such as multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens, without affecting the rest of the gut microbiome, and the impact of the gut microbiome on cancer and veterinary vaccines is an emerging research area. Submissions on these and other issues are welcomed to this Special Issue, titled “Impact of Vaccines and Vaccination on the Gut Microbiota”.
