Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Accompanied by more attention to environmental resources from human beings, a circular economic model centered on recycling of waste materials and comprehensive utilization of resources has become the mainstream of world development. The use of waste plastic and wooden fibers to produce wood–plastic composite products is an appropriate project to follow the trend. Wood–plastic refers to a new type of composite material that contains thermoplastics or thermosets with waste wood fiber, which is recognized as a sustainable green material to achieve durability without the use of toxic chemicals. This material is mostly used in various furniture production and part of automobile manufacturing, since its relatively low density, recyclability, and natural fiber-filled thermoplastics have less impact on the environment.

In most recent literature, authors lucubrated the raw materials of WPC and its processing and manufacturing. This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for scholars to share knowledge and thoughts on technical and economic evaluation of WPC applications, for example, comparing with American market, defects on promotion of WPC are obvious in developing countries: insufficient technology integration, unbalanced marketing and promotion, etc. Additionally, the changes that WPC offered to the environment and economy are also of great research significance, for example, WPC flooring, as the new direction in water-proof and moisture-proof building material industry, is able to replace original wood in a large quantity, which can effectively alleviate the shortages of forest resources, the lack of wood supply and the carbon emissions. The purpose of the Special Issue is to comprise the current knowledge and the most recent research of all topics involved WPC to promote the development of a sustainable environment and low-carbon economy.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
