Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Coding refers to the use of computer programming languages in the field of science and technology. Many educators believe that coding literacy not only helps students to build advanced problem-solving skills for conquering learning challenges in the school setting, but also prepares them with dynamic transferable skills to become more competitive in the global job market. For this reason, nations worldwide aim to adopt a “learn to code” policies to boost their economic strength in a sustainable society. For example, some states in the United States allow high school students to use computer coding to fulfill their foreign language requirement. In Taiwan, computer coding has become a required credit for all first-year college students.

This Special Issue investigates the potential challenges and problems identified in the trend of coding literacy, and invites you to submit research that can address the development status of “learn to code” at different educational levels. Examples of topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Instructional methods in developing coding literacy;
  • Emerging technologies to deliver coding instruction;
  • Educational policies and leadership for coding literacy;
  • Human resource development for coding literacy;
  • Educational economy for coding literacy;
  • Educational philosophy for coding literacy;
  • Teacher preparation for coding literacy;
  • Digital citizen for coding literacy.
