Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With the increasing requirements for environmental protection, the proportion of traditional fossil fuel in the global energy structure is gradually decreasing for the reason of greenhouse gases emission. In recent ten years, some new energy sources were proposed as an alternative ways of fossil energy for sustainable development, such as green energy and blue energy. Energy harvesting is the core technology of those energy sources which directly use available energy from the surroundings through energy conversion into electricity. While this technology has made great progress, how to increase the power density is still a research hotpots. In addition, how to transfer and store the generated energy efficiently is also the direction that researchers have been working tirelessly. Especially in the field of industrial Internet, the need for battery-free devices is increasing dramatically in many current applications, such as medical and environmental monitoring, industrial automation, wireless sensor networks, intelligent transportation systems, etc.

Therefore, this Special Issue aims to create a platform to discover the most recent advances in Energy Harvesting, Transfer and Storage technologies. We want to facilitate a better understanding on the energy harvesting mechanism, novel structures, high efficient energy transmission (wired or wireless) and novel energy storage methods. Moreover, this collection is designed to bridge the gap of theoretical analysis and industrial applications, and inspire new ideas. In this regard, authors worldwide are invited to contribute their Original Research, Review, Mini Review, and Perspective articles on topics including, but not limited to:

  • Energy harvesting;
  • High efficiency energy conversion;
  • Wireless power transfer;
  • Low power loss transmission;
  • Self-driven sensor network;
  • Energy storage;
  • Batteries.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
