Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The agri-food system is called to lower the impact of its productions on the environment by contributing to mitigating climate change (e.g., organic agricultural practices, reuse and recycling production outputs and waste), jointly adapting to its impacts. Besides that, the agri-food system is called to produce safe, healthy, and nutritious foods for the entire population, which is encouraged to consume locally and sustainably produced foods supporting the economic resilience of the rural communities. Additionally, sustainable food consumption is promoted by encouraging individuals to switch towards a plant-based diet. Thus, all actors in the agri-food system are all called on to take action for the development of a sustainable and healthy agri-food system.

This Special Issue aims to collect a selection of original and innovative articles as well as review articles related to production strategies and practices carried out by farmers and producers to mitigate the impact of production on the environment, including those adopting sustainable circular economy paradigms. Additionally, the Special Issue aims to collect original articles and reviews on sustainable and healthy consumption.
