Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues:

Polymer industries are currently among the sectors with the greatest prospects for growth and expansion worldwide. If they are to be met, these expectations require innovative advances at a scientific level, primarily in two key domains: the adoption of novel, sustainable polymer materials, and the refinement of polymer transformation processes to obtain parts adapted to the current requirements for efficiency and environmental respect.

In the realm of polymer transformation processes, two methods are focal points of interest. Firstly, the injection molding process, which demonstrates its prowess in the production of large-scale components and ability to adeptly meet stringent dimensional prerequisites. Conversely, additive manufacturing technologies, exemplified by material extrusion (MEX), exhibit the adaptability necessary to conform to the intricate specifications of complex geometries. These two methodologies present formidable challenges within the scientific domain, affording researchers with a unique opportunity to pioneer advancements in polymer materials, component design, and the augmentation of process performance. This collective pursuit of innovation contributes significantly to the realization of future sustainability sustainable goals (SDGs).

In this context, we extend a warm invitation to researchers from across the globe to enrich our Special Issue with their valuable contributions. We enthusiastically welcome original, high-caliber research and comprehensive review papers that encompass a diverse spectrum of subjects.

These topics include, but are not limited to, injection molding technologies, additive manufacturing, MEX, sustainability in polymer/ composite manufacturing technology, industrial design for polymer/ composite components, eco-design, sustainable polymer materials, mould design and tooling, conformal cooling, CAE simulation, and polymer material characterization.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
