Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue on the “Development and Application of Polymers in Sustainable Green Materials” aims to delve into innovative solutions in sustainable materials, focusing on the pivotal role of polymers. In the context of pressing concerns about environmental protection and resource efficiency, the application of sustainable green polymers emerges as critically important to the development of eco-friendly materials. As versatile compounds, polymers provide a promising direction for sustainable development, impacting various aspects of society, ecology, health, and the economy on both the local and global scales.

This Special Issue provides a comprehensive platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas regarding both the development and application of polymers in creating sustainable green materials. Aligned with the multidisciplinary scope of the journal Sustainability, this Special Issue explores the intricate connections between polymers and various facets of sustainability.

By emphasizing the role of polymers in enhancing material properties, controlled release, waste recycling, renewable energy applications, and environmental remediation, this Special Issue aims to facilitate collaboration and knowledge dissemination. Specifically, we discuss the diverse applications of sustainable green polymers, addressing contemporary environmental challenges such as pollution, resource depletion, and climate change.

In this Special Issue, we welcome original research articles and reviews covering a range of research areas including, but not limited to:

  1. Polymer blends for enhanced properties;
  2. Smart polymers for controlled release;
  3. Recycling and upcycling of polymer waste;
  4. Polymers in renewable energy applications;
  5. Bio-inspired polymers for environmental remediation;
  6. Life cycle assessment of polymer materials.

We invite contributions that showcase innovative applications of green sustainable polymers, contributing to the overarching goal of sustainability. We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions to this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
