Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

A significant percentage of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or other medical diseases (such as spine degenerative disc disease) have experienced long term symptoms that are wide ranging in nature and severity. Therefore, there is a critical need to develop wearable or implantable sensor systems that can help monitor and treat these symptoms before, during, and after surgical treatment.

This Special Issue, entitled Wearable/Implantable Sensor (Array) Systems for Medical Applications, aims to bring together innovative developments and synergies on the following topics (without being limited to them):

  1. Novel material or design for wearable sensors: IMU sensor (motion capture), EKG sensors, capacitive sensors, heart rate, skin temperature, blood oxygen, blood pressure, breath rate, voice record;
  2. Novel material or design for implantable sensors: spine sensor array, hip joint sensor, etc.;
  3. Machine learning algorithm or new control system for wearable/implantable sensor systems: ANN, reinforcement learning, etc.;
  4. New medical application with wearable/implantable sensor (array) sytems: COVID, spine, knee, limbs, hip joint;
  5. New medical application with implantable sensor (array) sytems (human–machine interface): brain, blood, cancer, spine, knee, limbs, hip joint;
  6. 3D printed wearable/implantable sensor array;
  7. Biomechanical study of implantable sensors and the human body;
  8. IoT systems for patients and equipment in smart hospitals;
  9. Multi-sensor data integration/fusion and mining for medical application;
  10. Robotics in smart hospital.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
