Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The continuous consumption of traditional energy sources in the current development stage of human society has indicated the requirement to develop a new and renewable energy technique to effectively solve the serious issue of energy crisis and environmental pollution. The realization of solar-to-energy (STE), using the photocatalytic technique, can effectively solve the current energy issues, in which the key component is the development of semiconductor photocatalysts. Up to now, the developed photocatalytic technique in STE application, including hydrogen production, organics degradation, and carbon dioxide reduction, not only decreases the cost of new energy production but effectively solves the development issue of environmental pollution.

This Special Issue aims to compile high-quality manuscripts focusing on the development and construction of advanced semiconductor photocatalysts and the corresponding applications in photocatalytic techniques for the realization of efficient STE applications. The reported semiconductor photocatalysts emphasize the excellent semiconductor properties, low-cost synthesis conditions, and advanced construction routes (morphology control, structure design, doping, vacancy introducing, cocatalyst loading, and heterojunction construction), aiming to realize efficient STE through the photocatalytic technique.

Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
