Dear Colleagues,
Nanomaterials have attracted increasing interest from the scientific community over the past few decades because of their extraordinary ability to integrate multiple functions into a single system. With the rapid progress of synthesis technology, various organic, inorganic, and hybrid nanomaterials such as liposomes, polymeric nanoagents, nanomicelles, metallic nanostructures, carbon-based nanomaterials, mesoporous silica nanoparticles, and quantum dots, as well as other nanoscale systems with desired morphology, size, composition, and surface charge, can be easily prepared through precise control. Furthermore, the tunability of the physicochemical properties of nanomaterials is also conducive to their wide application. Especially in recent years, remarkable progress has been made in the development of functional nanomaterials for biomedical applications.
This Special Issue on Recent Advances in Nanomaterials for Phototherapy and Imaging is devoted to the dissemination of high-quality original research articles or comprehensive reviews on cutting-edge developments in this interdisciplinary field, demonstrating the scientific and clinical translational value of nanosized materials. The topics of interest for this Special Issue cover the latest advancements in the design and preparation of functionalized nanomaterials and their biomedical applications, including but not limited to: disease phototherapies such as photothermal therapy, photodynamic therapy, and photo-triggered therapy; biosensing; diagnostic imaging such as fluorescence imaging, optoacoustic imaging, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography imaging, and other imaging modalities; and imaging-guided therapy. Experimental results from cellular, preclinical, and clinical studies are welcome.
