Mathematical Approaches to Advancements in Mechanics and Virtual Engineering

Dear Colleagues,

We are inviting submissions to a Special Issue of Mathematics on the subject of "Mathematical Approaches to Advancements in Mechanics and Virtual Engineering". In recent decades, mathematical approximation procedures such as Finite Element Analysis or the Boundary Element Method continue to evolve with more complex and accurate simulations, including advanced meshing techniques, multi-physics simulations (combining multiple, physical phenomena), and high-performance computing for faster simulations. Research into structural mechanics involves optimizing the design of materials and structures for various applications, including aerospace, civil engineering, and manufacturing. Topics include mathematical methods used in advanced materials, composite structures, or non-destructive testing methods. Integrating mathematics with mechanical engineering, electronics, and computer science has led to exciting developments in mechatronics and robotics. These developments involves improving realism as well as interactions and integration with engineering software.

The applications of mathematics and virtual engineering in the medical field, such as designing medical devices, modeling the human body, and simulating surgical procedures, are evolving areas of interest.

This Special issue aims to present the state-of-the-art trends and developments of advances in applied mathematics and virtual engineering and their challenges, inspiring further investigations to broaden their applications. Research in this Special Issue covers the simulation, structural mechanics, mechatronics, virtual reality, bioengineering, and biomechanics fields. We welcome review papers and original research papers.
