Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to publish your valuable work with us. Visual computing is a generic term for all computer science disciplines handling the generation and processing of visual information. The core challenges are the acquisition, processing, analysis and rendering of visual information, in which mathematical theory, mathematical modelling, computational methods and tools are used for computer graphics, image processing, visualization, computer vision, virtual and augmented reality, video processing, machine learning, etc. In recent years, the research community has witnessed an increased number of significant and novel methods and applications in mathematics for visual computing, including computer graphics and computer animation, image analysis and computer vision, visualization and visual analytics, geometric modelling and 3D printing, image processing and image editing, virtual and augmented reality, human computer interaction, and so on.

This Special Issue aims to publish recent advances in mathematical modelling, algorithms and applications for visual computing that involve acquisition, processing, analysis and rendering of visual information.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Topics appropriate for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, mathematical modelling in visual computing, computational methods in machine learning, feature representation and learning of visual information, explainable artificial intelligence based on visualization, information registration and fusion based on visual computing in multi-modal, multi-scale and multi-temporal images, segmentation and classification of visual information, representation and rendering of visual information, virtual and augmented reality in image-guided applications, and so on.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Mathematics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
