Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Machine Learning (ML) algorithms are a very popular tool, employed not only by software application developers, data analysis experts, and the scientific community but also engineers due to their many easy-to-use software tools. ML algorithms and tools are widely used in many numerical analysis problems, machine vision, multi-parameter, and large-size datasets, estimation and/or prediction model development, and pattern recognition, etc. The complexity of mechatronic systems with large data analysis tasks is significantly increasing, which requires the implementation of more and more artificial intelligence tools such as ML algorithms.

This special issue of the Mathematics journal invites papers on ML application topics such as the practical application features of ML algorithms in the control of dynamic systems, mechatronic system development, image analysis, and pattern recognition. We solicit original manuscripts focused on novel ideas, innovative solutions, and methods of employing ML algorithms by demonstrating the advantages of ML algorithms over other tools via real examples and their solutions. We particularly encourage you to submit papers that incorporate practical modules and developed software codes and computer models allowing for other users to reproduce and test the demonstrated results.

All research and review papers are welcome.

The key topics of this Special Issue include but are not limited to:

  • Applications of ML algorithms in dynamic system control;
  • Applications of ML algorithms in optimization and optimal control;
  • Applications of ML algorithms in big data processing;
  • Applications of ML algorithms in pattern recognition;
  • Applications of ML algorithms in predictive and estimation model development;
  • Applications of ML algorithms in numerical and textual data analysis.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Mathematics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
