Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce a Special Issue of the prestigious MDPI journal Machines entitled "Mechanical Design, Mechatronics and Control of 3D-Printed Robots". As the field of robotics continues to evolve, the intersection of mechanical design, mechatronics, 3D printing, and advanced control strategies has opened up new horizons for the design and development of innovative robotic systems.

This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive platform for researchers, engineers, and practitioners to share their latest advancements and insights in the multidisciplinary realm of mechanical design, mechatronics and control within the context of 3D-printed robots. We welcome original research articles, reviews, and case studies that explore various aspects of this fascinating field.

The scope of this Special Issue includes, but is not limited to, the following topics: structural, mechanical and mechatronics principles and design for 3D-printed robots; multibody dynamics modeling; novel applications of 3D printing in robotics; advanced control strategies for 3D-printed robotic systems; multi-material and multi-process 3D printing in robotics; bioinspired and biomimetic designs using 3D printing; integration of sensors and actuators in 3D-printed robots; human–robot interaction and collaboration; soft robotics and compliant mechanisms; manufacturing considerations and challenges in 3D-printed robotics; and real-world case studies and prototypes.

We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions and to creating an insightful collection of articles that will advance our knowledge and the applications of mechanical design, mechatronics, 3D printing, and control in the realm of robotics. Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Guest Editors of this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Machines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
