Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the ever-evolving landscape of medical science, the paradigm of precision medicine has been at the forefront of transformative healthcare, promising personalized treatment strategies tailored to the unique genetic makeup, environmental factors, and lifestyle choices of each patient. This revolution has not only permeated traditional fields of medicine but has also made significant inroads into more specialized disciplines such as plastic and reconstructive surgery. The integration of precision medicine into plastic and reconstructive surgery heralds a new era of clinical interventions, where surgical outcomes are optimized through a deeper understanding of individual patient profiles, enhancing both efficacy and safety.

This Special Issue of the “Precision Medicine in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery” section is dedicated to exploring the cutting-edge developments and innovative applications of precision medicine in plastic and reconstructive surgery. We aim to showcase research that highlights the integration of genomic data, biomarker discovery, and advanced imaging techniques to tailor surgical interventions, post-operative care, and rehabilitation processes to the individual needs of patients.

The scope of this Special Issue encompasses a wide array of topics within the realm of precision medicine applications in plastic and reconstructive surgery, including but not limited to biomaterials and tissue engineering for personalized grafts and implants, the role of stem cells in tissue regeneration, the use of precision diagnostics for surgical planning, and the development of targeted therapies to enhance healing and reduce complications. We invite submissions of original research articles, review papers that synthesize current knowledge, methodological innovations that pave the way for future advancements, and case studies that highlight the practical applications and outcomes of personalized approaches in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Interdisciplinary studies that bridge the gap between molecular science and surgical practice, as well as multi-national collaborations that reflect the global impact of precision medicine, are particularly encouraged. Through this Special Issue, we aim to create a platform for sharing breakthroughs, insights, and discussions that will further the integration of precision medicine into plastic and reconstructive surgery, ultimately leading to more successful patient outcomes and advancements in the field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Personalized Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
