Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The worldwide prevalence of traumatic brain injury (TBI) across the severity spectrum is growing at a rapid pace and is recognized as a significant public health concern. These injuries frequently result in a heterogeneous constellation of post-injury consequences, including structural and functional brain alterations and neurocognitive, psychiatric, and vestibular/balance sequelae. Due to these between- and within-patient differences in TBI outcomes, effective treatment by physicians, psychologists, therapists, and other relevant providers requires a personalized, patient-oriented approach. This Special Issue aims to familiarize clinicians and researchers with the latest advances in the translational research on TBI across the severity spectrum (e.g., mild/concussion, moderate, and severe) from the perspective of personalized medicine.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Personalized medicine in mild, moderate, and severe TBI—neurocognitive outcomes and treatment;
  • Personalized medicine in the measurement, diagnosis, and/or treatment of psychiatric symptoms following TBI;
  • Personalized medicine in the measurement, diagnosis, and/or treatment of vestibular/balance changes following TBI;
  • Personalized medicine in sport-related concussion diagnosis, treatment, recovery monitoring, and outcome prediction for amateur and professional athletes;
  • The differential roles of injury mechanism(s) on TBI diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes;
  • Current and/or emerging therapeutics for TBI;
  • Advances in the clinical utility of neuroimaging for patients with TBI, including connectomics;
  • Meta-analytic investigations of TBI clinical presentation, risk factors, and outcomes.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Personalized Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs).
