Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to announce a Special Issue on “Ship Hydrodynamics and Wave Resistance in Ship Design” in Journal of Marine Science and Engineering. Ship hydrodynamics and the management of wave resistance are pivotal aspects of modern ship design, influencing vessel performance, fuel efficiency, and environmental sustainability. This Special Issue aims to explore recent advancements and innovative approaches in ship hydrodynamics, wave resistance analysis, and their implications for ship design and operation.
Guest Editors and the editorial team invite researchers and experts in the field to submit original manuscripts addressing the following topics:
Hydrodynamic analysis and modeling techniques for ship design
Wave resistance reduction strategies and optimization methods
Numerical simulations and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in ship hydrodynamics
Ship propulsion systems and their impact on hydrodynamic performance
Application of machine learning and AI in ship design
We encourage submissions that demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches, combining principles from naval architecture, fluid dynamics, materials science, computational modeling, data driven modeling and machine learning. Manuscripts should present novel research findings, methodologies, or technological innovations that contribute to enhancing our understanding of ship hydrodynamics and wave resistance in ship design.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Journal of Marine Science and Engineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
