Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

Functional fitness and functional training have become pivotal areas of study and practice in the fields of sports science, exercise physiology and public health. In today's fast-paced world, understanding the dynamics between functional fitness, effective training strategies and their profound implications for population health is more critical than ever. This Special Issue seeks to delve deep into the multifaceted aspects of functional fitness and training, focusing on their pivotal role in enhancing population health, improving overall well-being and preventing health challenges.

The overarching aim of this Special Issue is to provide a comprehensive platform for researchers, scholars and practitioners to disseminate their latest findings and insights, share best practices and present innovative strategies in the realm of functional fitness and training. In doing so, we hope to facilitate a robust dialogue among experts in the field and contribute to the collective knowledge on these essential topics.

In line with the overarching goal of this Special Issue, we invite contributions related, but not limited, to the following topics:

  • The intricate relationship between functional fitness and overall health;
  • Innovative approaches to functional training and their differential impacts on the health of diverse populations;
  • The preventive role of functional fitness in averting chronic diseases and health conditions;
  • The health influence of functional fitness on the elderly, individuals with special needs and distinct demographic groups.

This Special Issue welcomes a wide range of research formats, including original research articles, review papers, commentaries and case studies, offering ample opportunities for diverse perspectives and insights to be shared.

Authors are encouraged to submit their papers through the journal's online submission system by the specified submission deadline. During the submission process, please specify that your paper is intended for the Special Issue on “Functional Fitness, Functional Training, and Population Health."

We eagerly anticipate your contributions to this Special Issue, which aspires to make a significant improvement on our understanding of the fundamental role of functional fitness and training in promoting population health and ensuring a healthier future.
