Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Plasma science and technology are at the forefront of modern scientific research and technological innovation. The enigmatic and dynamic nature of plasma, often referred to as the "fourth state of matter", has captured the imaginations of scientists, engineers, and innovators for decades. Its applications span a wide spectrum, from fundamental research in astrophysics and nuclear fusion to practical applications in electronics, aerospace, and medicine.

The National University Students Innovation Contest on Plasma Science and Technology has long served as a crucial platform for nurturing young talent and promoting groundbreaking research in this field. This Special Issue proudly showcases a selection of the most outstanding papers presented at the contest or inspired by the contest, offering a glimpse into the cutting-edge developments and innovations achieved by the next generation of plasma scientists and engineers.

We hope that the brilliant works presented at or inspired by the contest will embark on a journey through the innovative minds of young researchers who are pushing the boundaries of what is possible with plasma. The papers submitted to this Special Issue encompass a wide array of topics, including plasma diagnostics, advanced fusion concepts, novel plasma-based material synthesis, and plasma-driven propulsion systems, among others.

We invite you to explore the exceptional research and creativity presented in this Special Issue. The contributions herein reflect the dedication, ingenuity, and passion of the participating students, who are poised to become future leaders and pioneers in the field of plasma science and technology.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
