Biomolecules welcomes submissions to a Special Issue focused on chemistry, biology, and medical applications, proposing a novel perspective in the era of nutraceuticals.
This Special Issue, "Next-Generation Nutraceuticals: Unlocking New Pathways for Cellular Health beyond the Foods", explores advanced nutraceuticals in promoting cellular health, focusing on salutogenesis and the prevention of chronic degenerative diseases. It aims to investigate how these substances extend the health span and potentially influence the lifespan, pushing the boundaries of traditional nutrition.
Central to our discussion is the interaction between nutraceuticals and cellular aging mechanisms, such as DNA methylation, telomere dynamics, and cellular senescence. These factors play crucial roles in chronic inflammation, immune balance, and the overall aging process. This Special Issue delves into salutogenesis, highlighting nutraceuticals' role in fostering health and strengthening individual and community health resources, particularly in the context of chronic diseases. This perspective aligns with the evolving evidence in health sciences that emphasizes wellness and a person-centered approach in healthcare.
Notably, this Special Issue will address the neuroprotective and immunomodulatory effects of nutraceuticals in neurodegenerative diseases. Given the increasing prevalence of age-related neurodegenerative conditions, understanding the impact of nutraceutical substances is imperative. These components show promise in modifying disease incidence through their influence on different molecular networks.
Overall, this Special Issue aims to provide a coherent, high-level academic platform, presenting the latest research on the potential of next-generation nutraceuticals in enhancing health and longevity.
