Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Brucellosis, a disease caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella, is one of the most common zoonoses worldwide, adversely affecting animal health and welfare, public health, the global economy and trade. Animal brucellosis has been successfully eradicated in most developed countries, but remains endemic in Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Southern Europe, representing a major public health concern. However, humans are not natural hosts for brucellae, and the source of infection is usually found in domestic or wild animal reservoirs. Diagnosis and control of brucellosis is still a challenging, multisectoral process requiring attention to human, animal and environmental health. 

This Special Issue will showcase the most recent research and developments in the epidemiology, disease diagnosis, control, and strategies for the prevention of brucellosis in domestic and wild animals. Original research and review papers are welcome.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Animals is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
